My TBR is OUT OF CONTROL, like any other bookworm, but I tend to keep things a little more under control over on NetGalley. I’m a bit of a stickler for the preferred 80% rating.
When I first stumbled upon the book blogging world in 2017, I was informed that the easiest way to get my hands on advanced copies was to sign up with NetGalley. If you’re interested in accessing early review copies then I still think this is the best way to start off. Just remember that you won’t be approved for everything you want, I still get denied or ignored on a regular basis.
What is NetGalley?
NetGalley helps publishers and authors promote digital review copies to book advocates and industry professionals. Publishers make digital review copies and audiobooks available for the NetGalley community to discover, request, read, and review.
I could have a whole post dedicated to NetGalley tips and tricks (let me know if this is of interest to you) but for now let's focus on my recent approvals.
Like I said above, I prefer to keep my NetGalley shelf a little bit more under control. I’m more apt to request trusted/repeat authors. Seven of the eight books below are from repeat authors.
Let’s take a look and see what I’ve got…
Long Time Gone by Charlie Donlea — On sale: May 28th. My sisters and I, buddy read Don’t Believe It and enjoyed chatting about it. I read Twenty Years Later last year and it was fine but not memorable. I’m curious to see where I’ll land with his latest and intrigued by the use of DNA results and crime solving.
When DNA results reveal a disturbing connection to the mysterious disappearance of a famous baby nearly three decades ago, a forensic scientist is plunged into a dangerous search for answers in this engrossing, propulsive new novel from the internationally bestselling author of Twenty Years Later.
The Royals Upstairs by Karina Halle —On sale: September 10th. I read The Royals Next Door the summer of 2023 and fell head over heels for it. I’m hoping for another book boyfriend this time around.
He’s the royal bodyguard. She’s the royal nanny. The annoyingly hot attraction that simmers between them—that’s a royal pain.
This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune — Available now. This Canadian and Anne of Green Gables lover is a fan of anything P.E.I. I’ll be listening to this on audio soon.
This summer they’ll keep their promise. This summer they won’t give into temptation. This summer will be different.
And So I Roar by Abi Dare — On sale: August 6th. Adunni is BACK!
A stunning, heartwrenching new novel from Abi Daré, New York Times bestselling author of The Girl with the Louding Voice.
Such A Bad Influence by Olivia Muenter — On sale: June 4th. I’m intrigued by a debut and missing influencer story and currently around 15% in. The jury is still out.
For fans of Ashley Winstead, a razor-sharp debut about what happens when one of the first child stars of the social media age grows up . . . and goes missing.
Prime Time Romance by Kate Robb — On sale: September 3rd. I love the use of magical realism in my romance and thoroughly enjoyed This Spells Love.
Is love on the small screen better than the real thing? A new divorcee finds herself in the ideal world of her favorite 2000s teen soap in this second-chance, whimsical, steamy romantic comedy from the author of This Spells Love.
All The Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker — On sale: June 25th. At over 600 pages this better grab a hold of me quickly and not let go.
From the New York Times bestselling author of We Begin at the End comes a soaring thriller and an epic love story that spans decades.
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore - On sale: July 2nd. This is said to be a slow burn so I’m in no rush to get to it but I do love a summer camp setting.
From the New York Times bestselling author of Long Bright River, an immersive, propulsive novel about a missing child whose disappearance sends equal shockwaves through three very different worlds—an opulent Adirondack summer estate, the rustic teen summer camp that operates in its shadow, and the blue-collar community that serves them both.
Are any of these books on your radar? Are you a NetGalley user?
Happy reading, friends.
