A social media break gave me a TON of extra time to do as I please. It’s unsurprising to me that I leaned into my consumption of books, tv and podcasts. I tend to fall down a rabbit hole at least a few times a week. Sorry not sorry! If I’m intrigued by something or someone then I want to know more! Give me ALL THE DEETS!
Below you’ll find links to more than a few podcasts I’ve consumed lately. I hope you find a thing or two of interest. Be sure to let me know if you’ve listened to anything of interest lately.
YOU HEARD IT HERE…
Behind the Stack with Brett Benner
Season 2 Episode 33: Sarah Damoff, The Bright Years
If you’ve had the pleasure of reading this stunning debut then be sure to listen to this conversation with Brett and Sarah. Brett is also a great follow on his Youtube channel as well as on Instagram as
.The Prestige TV Podcast
Netflix’s Hit One-Shot Show, "Adolescence”: The Surprise of the Year?
I recommend listening after you watched the show as it goes into spoiler territory. I love talking about this show with anyone that will listen so of course I’m consuming any podcast that talks about it as well.
Ask Lisa: The Psychology of Parenting
Episode 213: Lessons from Netflix’s “Adolescence”
Lisa Damour is an absolute pro at understanding teenagers so I was thrilled to see an episode talking about THE SHOW of the moment. I highly recommend her book - The Emotional Lives of Teenagers if you, like me, are in the trenches of raising teens.
After watching Adolescence I did wonder if the show would be appropriate for my teens. Would it hit the same way? What would they think of it all? She gives some good guidance in this episode.
The Oprah Podcast
Oprah and Jonathan Haidt on How Social Media is Changing Childhood
If anything this episode absolutely reaffirmed my big fat NO to Snap Chat in our house. I love the attention and discourse happening around the subject.
Modern Wisdom
Episode 924: William Costello - What Netflix’s “Adolescence” Got Wrong
This was a great recommendation from my friend
. It gave me a lot of insight and perspective on incel-related violence and the UK education system. I had no idea what a mess it was!Everything Happens with Kate Bowler
Amy Griffin: Some Warriors Weep
Kate is always such a comfort to listen to and I couldn’t resist listening to her chat with Amy Griffin, the author of the memoir The Tell. Kate knows all about sharing truths so this is a friendship and conversation that was fated.
Crime Junkie
INFAMOUS: The Death of John O’Keefe & The Trial of Karen Reed
This is for anyone following the Karen Reed trial or if you just happened to binge Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Reed on MAX and want the basics. Flowers does a good job at giving listeners a broad overview. This case is NUTS! I’m very curious to see how the second trial ends.
The Jefferson Fisher Podcast
The Best Way to Shut Down a Narcissist
I immediately followed this podcast after reading his book, The Next Conversation, last month. Episodes are often short, to the point, helpful and practical.
Poured Over
Geraldine Brooks on MEMORIAL DAYS
This was a reminder of how much I enjoyed her Geraldine’s memoir. If you’re looking for a memoir that explores what it means to truly grieve, then don’t pass this one up.
That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my podcast consumption. Let me know if this is something you would like to see more often. As always I would love any recommendations.
Until next time.
xoxo

A Basic Guide to May Releases
Hi friends! I’m still reading and anticipating new releases on my social media break and couldn’t resist sharing what has caught my eye. This certainly isn’t ALL the books releasing in May but a mere sneak peek at what lies ahead.
Lots of great podcast listening!
I recently watched Body in the Snow and that case really is just totally bonkers. Might have to check out that podcast, thanks for the rec!
