OMG!!! I bought OVER MY DEAD BODY almost for the same reasons you bought your book Obituary. However, I got distracted before I read it. I have been distracted for about one year lol. Now I feel inspired to read it. It sounds very much like your book as it talks about all issues concerning death including the history of funerals. I have no idea what possessed me to buy it.

Over My Dead Body sounds fascinating! Hopefully this is your sign to circle back to pick it up. Seems like a great fall read too.

Love this! The cover definitely catches my eye, but I usually read e-book or audiobook format. So after clicking “buy now with 1-click,” I usually don’t see the cover again. Length has everything to do with it, if it’s crossing over 350 pgs or 12 hours of audio…I definitely pause. It really has to grab my attention right from the beginning for that commitment. The title of this book is hilarious and would have caught my eye “Obitchuary.” It had me until ‘necrophilia.’ 🥴 There is only one reason I read books, it’s to escape the reality of everyday life and the crazy freeway of thoughts that go on in my brain, if a book can do that then it’s a big WIN!🏆

Good point on the cover. I think it's what initially draws us in but the rest of the moving parts need to do their job to make it work for us. Anytime I see an audiobook at 16+ hours I know I need a long road trip in the cards. I think most of my longer audiobooks tend to be nonfiction and a topic I'm super intrigued by. Obitchuary was fun and definitely an entertaining distraction from all the stress in life.

Same. A big book is a totally different investment. My sweet spot is generally around 350 pages.

I loved getting this deeper look into your mood reading process. That's the thing with us mood readers, we all have different ways of picking books and deciding what we're "in the mood" for! I"m with you, I often feel like I can't find anything to read despite having hundreds of books to choose from. It's really more of an "I don't know what I'm in the mood to read" more so than I can't find anything. I do think I'm influenced by cover and titles but after that, I'm mostly swayed by whether a synopsis has any of my buzzwords. Or if I remember anything about reviews or recommendations that might lead me to deciding I'm in the mood for something. I'm a huge seasonal reader too, so I tend to gravitate toward certain settings and genres depending on the season. It's a lot being a mood reader haha
